TDA former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has expressed shock and cast doubt on claims that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) registered 10 million members within 24 hours.
Omokri described the figure as technologically unfeasible.
Reacting to reports of the massive sign-up, Omokri argued that no website in Africa currently possesses the infrastructure required to process such a volume of registrations within such a short timeframe. According to him, onboarding millions of users—especially where biometric or detailed biodata is involved—demands extremely high server capacity and advanced backend systems.
“It is technologically impossible for the Nigeria Democratic Congress website, as presently constituted, to register 10 million members in 24 hours,” he stated, adding that even globally established platforms rarely achieve such rapid growth organically.
To support his position, Omokri referenced the growth timelines of major digital platforms. He noted that ChatGPT took approximately 40 days to reach 10 million users, while X has never recorded such a surge in a single day.
He further cited Threads as one of the few platforms to achieve 10 million sign-ups within 24 hours, explaining that the feat was possible due to its integration with existing user bases on Meta-owned platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
Omokri concluded by urging political parties to exercise caution in making public claims, warning that exaggerated figures could undermine credibility and public trust.
The NDC has yet to officially respond to the concerns raised, as debates continue over the authenticity and accuracy of its reported membership surge.
