TDIn a decisive show of force, troops of Sector 2, 135 Special Forces Battalion under Operation HADIN KAI have crushed a JAS/ISWAP terrorists’ roadblock along the Buratai–Kamuya road in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.
The clearance operation, conducted on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, resulted in the rescue of 53 civilians and the recovery of eight vehicles seized by the insurgents.
The operation was launched after surveillance cameras deployed at Dutse Kura detected insurgents attempting to block the highway.
A Quick Reaction Force (QRF) swiftly mobilized and pursued the terrorists towards the Mangari–Dora axis.
A fierce gun battle erupted, with Nigerian troops overwhelming the militants, who fled in disarray, abandoning stolen property and leaving behind terrified hostages.

Following the successful engagement, troops secured the withdrawal route, evacuated rescued civilians, and transported recovered vehicles and properties safely to Buratai.

The Theatre Command of Operation HADIN KAI commended the troops for their vigilance, professionalism, and swift response.
It urged residents within the Joint Operations Area to remain alert and continue providing timely intelligence on suspicious movements and activities.
Officials confirmed that the security situation in the area remains calm.
Meanwhile, troops maintain aggressive operational dominance to prevent further insurgent activity.
International Commendation
On Thursday, June 25, 2026, Major General Claude Tudor, Commander of the United States Special Operations Command Africa (SOCAFRICA), visited the Headquarters of Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri.
He praised the Nigerian military’s operational progress.
He described the integration of U.S. Special Operations with the Theatre as a model of effective military cooperation in counter-insurgency operations.

The Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, expressed appreciation for continued U.S. support.
Abubakar noted that the partnership has enhanced both kinetic and non-kinetic operations.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening military collaboration, improving operational capabilities, combating terrorism, and promoting regional stability across West Africa.
This latest success underscores the Nigerian Army’s determination to deny insurgents any breathing space.
With Operation HADIN KAI intensifying its offensives, the message is clear: no hiding place for terrorists, no safe haven in Borno or beyond.
