TDThe Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of six notorious kidnapping suspects and the successful rescue of victims in Kaduna State.

The operation was carried out by the Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS), marking a significant victory against organized crime in the region.

Suspects Arrested

The suspects were apprehended on April 3, 2026.

They were identified as:

  1. Yusuf Shuaibu (23)
  2. Abubakar Bature (19)
  3. Yau Murtala
  4. Bello Suleiman (19)
  5. Abdul Kareem Nuhu (36)
  6. Ahmed Musa (28)

Preliminary investigations revealed that they are members of a kidnapping syndicate operating within Kaduna and its environs, with strong links to criminal camps located in Rijana Forest.

Criminal Activities Exposed

Investigations tied the group to several high-profile kidnappings:

  • October 2025 Incident: The abduction of a senior police officer and his son.

Despite collecting a ransom of ₦24 million and other items, the victims were not released until police intervention secured the officer’s son unharmed.

Efforts are ongoing to rescue the officer.

  • Family Abduction Case: The syndicate was also linked to the kidnapping of a young child and family members.

They collected ₦18 million for them before victims were eventually rescued through police operations.

Police Statement

Authorities confirmed that the arrests were part of a broader crackdown on kidnapping networks in Kaduna.

The police emphasized their commitment to dismantling criminal syndicates and restoring public confidence in security operations.

“This breakthrough demonstrates our resolve to protect citizens and ensure that criminal elements are brought to justice.

“Investigations are ongoing to apprehend fleeing members of the syndicate, rescue remaining victims, and recover weapons used in their operations,” a police spokesperson stated.

Implications

  • For Kaduna State: The arrests are expected to reduce the activities of kidnapping gangs that have terrorized communities.
  • For Victims’ Families: The rescue operations bring relief, though efforts continue to secure all abducted individuals.
  • For National Security: The case underscores the importance of intelligence-led policing in tackling organized crime across Nigeria.

The arrest of six notorious kidnappers and the rescue of victims in Kaduna represents a major success for the Nigeria Police Force.

With investigations ongoing, authorities are determined to track down remaining syndicate members and ensure justice is served.
