TDThe Delta State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its ongoing fight against kidnapping, cultism, and other violent crimes across the state.
The breakthrough followed the rescue of a three-year-old girl allegedly abducted by a commercial motorcyclist and the arrest of a suspected cultist linked to a notorious confraternity.
According to a statement issued by the Police Command, operatives successfully rescued the young girl who was allegedly kidnapped by a commercial motorcycle rider identified as Kelvin Ogaga.
The suspect was reportedly responsible for taking the child to school on a daily basis before allegedly abducting her and demanding a ransom of ₦500,000 from her family.
Police authorities disclosed that acting on credible intelligence, operatives stormed the suspect’s hideout in Ughelli.
The operation led to the successful rescue of the child unharmed.

During the operation, officers recovered ₦127,000 suspected to be part of the ransom payment made by the family.
The Police further stated that several valuables allegedly purchased with proceeds from the crime were also recovered, alongside the motorcycle reportedly used in carrying out the abduction.
Residents of the area have since commended the swift response of the Police.
They noted that the rescue operation prevented what could have turned into a tragic incident.
In another security breakthrough, operatives attached to the Police Buffalo Team reportedly recovered a Beretta pistol and an iPhone abandoned by a fleeing suspect.
The incident happened during a stop-and-search patrol around the Power Line axis near Bonsaac.

Police sources revealed that the suspect escaped upon sighting security operatives, abandoning the items while fleeing the scene.
The recovered firearm has since been taken into police custody as investigations continue to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspect.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Ozoro Division also arrested a suspected cultist during a township patrol operation aimed at curbing cult-related violence and criminal activities within the area.
The suspect, identified as Michael Monday, was reportedly intercepted during routine patrol activities.
A search conducted on his bag allegedly led to the recovery of a locally made cut-to-size single-barrel gun and one live cartridge.

Preliminary investigations, according to the Police, linked the suspect to the notorious Supreme Vikings Confraternity, popularly known as “Aro Bagger”.
The cult group is believed to be involved in violent clashes and criminal operations in parts of the state.
The Command reiterated its commitment to sustaining aggressive policing strategies across Delta State.
It warned criminal elements to either repent or face the full weight of the law.
Security analysts have described the operations as a significant boost to ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping, cultism, and illegal possession of firearms in the state.
The Police urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information that could aid security agencies in tackling crime and ensuring public safety across communities in Delta State.
