TDFormer Nigerian presidential candidate Peter Obi held a series of high-level meetings in London with stakeholders in British politics and the business community.
Among those he engaged was Lord Jonathan Marland, Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC).
The discussions with Lord Marland focused on strengthening trade ties, advancing economic opportunities, and promoting small businesses across Nigeria.
Obi emphasized that fostering a robust economy and generating employment requires deliberate support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
Obi drew parallels with rapidly growing economies such as China, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
He reiterated that MSMEs are the backbone of sustainable development.
He stressed the importance of empowering these enterprises, particularly in agriculture and manufacturing, to drive growth and create jobs for millions of Nigerians.
“Our micro, small, and medium enterprises serve as the driving force behind economic growth.
“It is imperative that we provide them with vigorous support to enhance development and create significant employment opportunities,” Obi stated.
The London meetings highlight Obi’s continued push for international collaboration and strategic partnerships aimed at building a stronger Nigerian economy.
His message remains consistent: A new and revitalised Nigeria is POssible.
