Respected community leader, historian, and civic advocate Caleb Okeke-Enyobi, widely known by his traditional title Nkan’uzu Anaedo, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
In a heartfelt message to his constituents, Okeke-Enyobi announced his resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and revealed his decision to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
He explained that the move was inspired by his desire to align with the political vision of former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate Peter Obi.
He described Peter Obi as “the North Star for a new political culture in our nation’s long-suffering democracy.”
He stated: “Leadership is a contract of trust.
“Following the leadership of H.E. Mr. Peter Obi, I have formally resigned from the ADC to join the NDC, where I believe the vision for a new Nigeria can be most effectively pursued.”

Nkan’uzu: Why Now!
Nkan’uzu’s declaration comes after years of active involvement in local governance and civic education.
He has been a vocal participant in debates surrounding the 1997 Rotational Agreement in Nnewi North, a pact designed to ensure fairness in political representation.
He has also championed initiatives aimed at strengthening civic education among youths.
Okeke-Enyobi argued that an informed generation is essential for sustaining democracy.
Nkan’uzu’s Vision and Mission
Nkan’uzu emphasized that his candidacy is not merely about politics but about carrying forward the values that define the constituency—Nnewi’s industrial ingenuity and Ekwusigo’s resilience.
“These past seasons have prepared me to represent the core virtues of our constituency at the center of power in Abuja.
“I ask for your prayers, partnership, and continued support as I take our Industrial Spirit to the House of Representatives.
“Let us build a new metropolis that reflects our city’s hard-fought brand,” he said.

Heightened Expectations
Political observers note that Okeke-Enyobi’s entry into the race could reshape the dynamics of the constituency.
This is given his reputation as a grassroots mobilizer and his strong ties to cultural and civic institutions in Nnewi.
His decision to run under the NDC banner also signals the growing influence of Peter Obi’s political movement.
The movement continues to attract reform-minded politicians across Nigeria.
With this declaration, Nkan’uzu Anaedo positions himself as a formidable contender in the upcoming elections.
He pledged to bring the voice of his people to the national stage and to advocate for equity, industrial growth, and democratic renewal.
