TDThe Nigerian Army has celebrated a landmark international accomplishment as Colonel TG Ajato graduated with honours from the United States Army War College (USAWC) in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Ajato emerged among the top performers in a highly competitive class of 365 senior military officers and strategic leaders drawn from the United States and allied nations.

In a groundbreaking feat, Colonel Ajato won the prestigious Frank Kelly Writing Award for outstanding research.

He becomes the first International Fellow in the history of the institution to receive the highest academic writing prize.

The award also confers a US Army War College Foundation Life Membership and other distinguished benefits.

Academic Excellence

Beyond the award, Colonel Ajato earned a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies, underscoring his exceptional academic performance and strategic insight.

He also developed sample model answers approved by the College for future Oral Comprehensive Examinations, setting a benchmark for subsequent cohorts.

His achievements reflect the growing reputation of Nigerian Army officers in leading international military institutions.

They highlight the Army’s commitment to producing strategic leaders capable of addressing contemporary security challenges.

Leadership Vision

Colonel Ajato’s success aligns with the vision and command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, which is:

“To Advance the Transformation of the Nigerian Army into a More Professional, Adaptable, Combat Ready and Resilient Force Capable of Decisively Discharging its Constitutional Responsibilities Within a Joint and Multi-Agency Environment.”

This milestone demonstrates how Nigerian officers are increasingly recognized for their intellectual contributions to global military thought and practice.

Broader Significance

The achievement further underscores Nigeria’s growing influence in international military education and cooperation.

It also highlights the Army’s dedication to fostering officers who can contribute effectively to national and global peace and security.

Present at the graduation ceremony were Nigeria’s Defence Attaché to New York, Brigadier General EA Koleoso, alongside family, friends, and well-wishers who celebrated Ajato’s historic accomplishment.

Colonel TG Ajato’s award-winning performance at the US Army War College marks a historic milestone for Nigeria,.

It sets a new standard for excellence among international military fellows.

His success not only honours the Nigerian Army but also strengthens its reputation as a force committed to professionalism, adaptability, and global leadership.
