TDPassengers aboard a Max Air flight from Abuja to Katsina experienced a terrifying ordeal on Thursday when the aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff on Thursday.
Less than 20 minutes into the journey, passengers reported hearing a loud bang followed by a sudden drop in altitude.
The aircraft struggled to maintain balance, causing panic in the cabin.
A second loud bang heightened fears, with many passengers believing the worst was imminent.
Max Air Pilot’s Response
In a terse announcement, the Max Air pilot informed passengers that the plane would return to Abuja for safety reasons.
He carefully maneuvered the aircraft at low altitude.
The plane successfully made an emergency landing at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Passenger Account
One of the passengers, Obinna Chukwuezie, shared his experience:
“Help me thank God for saving me from plane crash today…
“Although I’m still in shock, I thank God who spared our lives.”
All the Max Air passengers disembarked safely.
Aviation authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the loud bangs and mechanical issues in the Max Air airplane.
The incident raised fresh concerns about air safety standards in Nigeria’s aviation sector, highlighting both the technical scare and the emotional impact of the near-crash.
