TDEthnic Yoruba cleric, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has once again stirred controversy with remarks targeting opposition figures Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Primate Ayodele also revisited his long-running prophecies about former President Goodluck Jonathan and ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

In a video clip now circulating on social media, Ayodele declared that Jonathan’s political re-emergence was foretold.

He warned that unless Jonathan and Atiku “come together and discuss,” they would fail.

He insisted that Jonathan’s mere appearance in political conversations was “a sign of fulfillment of prophecy,” even though Jonathan has not formally declared interest in contesting.

Ayodele dismissed Obi and Kwankwaso as “pretenders,” accusing them of deceiving themselves and misleading their supporters.

“They are deceiving themselves. There is nothing “OK”. It is no “OK”, no “OK”, no “OK”. Tell them. That is the message,” he said emphatically in the video.

Background of Ayodele Attacks and Public Reaction

Primate Ayodele has built a reputation for issuing bold political prophecies.

He often sparks heated debate across Nigeria’s political and religious landscape.

His latest comments come at a time of heightened political maneuvering ahead of the 2026 elections, with opposition parties weighing alliances and strategies.

The remarks have drawn mixed reactions:

  • Supporters of Obi and Kwankwaso dismissed Ayodele’s comments as politically motivated and irrelevant to Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
  • Critics of the opposition argue that the prophecy underscores the need for unity among opposition leaders if they hope to challenge the ruling party effectively.
  • Neutral observers note that Ayodele’s statements, while controversial, reflect broader anxieties about fragmentation within Nigeria’s opposition.

Broader Context and Conclusion

Nigeria’s political climate remains tense, with economic hardship, insecurity, and governance challenges dominating public discourse.

Religious leaders like Ayodele continue to wield influence, shaping narratives that resonate with segments of the population.

Ayodele’s latest attack on Obi and Kwankwaso, coupled with his insistence that Jonathan and Atiku must unite.

It added another layer of drama to Nigeria’s evolving political scene.

Whether his prophecies will shape alliances or simply fuel debate remains to be seen, but the video has already ignited fresh controversy online.

See the transcript of the video below:

On Jonathan’s return:

“I tell you something. I said the coming after Jonathan, right?

“That Jonathan is coming. He’s coming, he’s coming, I told you.

“I now said again what the Lord said to me again. I’m afraid. I said Jonathan.

“I want to explain this to my—I’m not explaining to anybody, I just want to tell people what I saw.

If Jonathan and Atiku did not come together and discuss, they will fail.

“That’s the essence of Jonathan coming. He has not even shown interest that he wants to contest, abi.

“The only vine form for him is a sign of fulfillment of the prophecy. If they don’t come together…

On Obi and Kwankwaso:

“I’m not talking of Obi.

“I know people will not like that because we believe that he wants to be president by now.

“Obi presidency, no, it’s not this time.”

“They are pretenders. They are deceiving themselves. They are deceiving.

There is nothing “OK”. It is no “OK”, no “OK”, no “OK”. Tell them. That is the message.”

“Why does everybody not drag me? I am not interested.

“Oh, a prophet is talking. Take it or you leave it.”
