TDNigerians have been reassured about the safety of popular good governance activists Mr. Peter Akah (Peter for Nigeria) and Miss Precious Oruche (Mama Pee) following their recent invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Human rights lawyer Barrister Inibehe Effiong issued a detailed statement addressing public concerns.
Effiong noted that there had been “growing agitation in the public space” over the activists’ whereabouts.
According to Effiong, the EFCC had sent separate invitation letters dated 24th June 2026, requesting their appearance on 6th July 2026 to clarify allegations of abuse of the Naira.
Since the activists were unavailable on the original date, Effiong formally requested a rescheduling, and the meeting was moved to 15th July 2026.
On that day, Effiong accompanied Mr. Akah and Miss Oruche to the EFCC headquarters, where they met with investigators.
The interrogation, which lasted several hours, was described as professional and respectful.

Effiong explained that the allegations stemmed from the use of props money in entertainment, not actual Naira notes.
Both activists cooperated fully with investigators and were released afterward.
They are expected to continue engaging with the Commission as the investigation progresses.
He emphasized that his clients are in high spirits, grateful for the outpouring of concern from Nigerians, and committed to transparency.
