TDA dramatic confrontation unfolded in Enugu after Joy Ezeugwu, a student activist, was arrested early Tuesday morning following her indefinite suspension from Ezzy Nursing College.
The school’s administrator, Ifeyinwa Peace Okwudu, reportedly accused Ezeugwu of causing “emotional and psychological damage” and demanded ₦10 million in compensation.
Ezeugwu’s arrest came after she published a video, criticizing alleged negligence at Uwani General Hospital, Enugu.
The video raised concerns about poor care at Ezzy Nursing College, where a student recently died.
Reports suggest that as many as 150 students are now at risk of expulsion.

Bail Secured
Educationst and activist, Mr. Alex Onyia, confirmed that Ezeugwu was arrested by Okwudu at 7:35 a.m.
She was taken to the station by 8:20 a.m. and later transferred to the Force Headquarters Annex.
Onyia stated that she was released after a lengthy bail process completed by mid-afternoon.
Onyia credited the efforts of AfiaTv team, Barrister Kene Nnadi, and two other lawyers for ensuring Ezeugwu’s release.
“Joy can never walk alone.
“We will take up Ifeyinwa Peace Okwudu immediately and deploy every legal means.
“Any student bold enough to speak against evil in their schools will always have our support,” Onyia declared.

Okwudu Accused of Highhandedness, Raises Wider Concerns
The incident has sparked outrage among civil society groups and education advocates, who argue that the arrest of a student for speaking out against institutional failings represents a dangerous precedent.
Critics say the case highlights:
- Abuse of authority by school administrators.
- Suppression of free speech among students.
- Urgent need for accountability in Nigeria’s educational institutions.
Implications for Okwudu, Ezeugwu, College
- For Okwudu and Ezzy Nursing College: The allegations of negligence and mass expulsions could damage its reputation and trigger regulatory scrutiny.
- For Students: The case may embolden others to speak out against injustice, especially with legal and activist support.
- For Authorities: The police’s role in enforcing the administrator’s complaint raises questions about impartiality and due process.
The arrest and bail of Joy Ezeugwu have become a rallying point for activists demanding justice and reform in Nigeria’s educational sector.
With legal teams mobilizing and public outrage mounting, the case is likely to intensify scrutiny of Ezzy Nursing College and its leadership.
