TDTroops of Operation Hadin Kai, the Joint Task Force (North East), have successfully repelled multiple coordinated terrorist attacks in Nigeria’s North-East region.
The troops also carried out precision follow-on strikes, reinforcing ongoing counter-insurgency efforts
This was contained in a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer at the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East).
According to the statement, the operations were conducted on April 22, 2026, across several locations within the theatre of operations, including Kanama, Ngoshe, and Banki.
The statement disclosed that terrorists launched coordinated attacks at different times during the day in the affected areas.
However, the troops responded swiftly with superior firepower and tactical coordination, effectively neutralizing the threats.
Notably, there were no reported casualties or damage resulting from the attempted assaults.
Military authorities emphasized that the successful repulsion of the attacks demonstrates the high level of vigilance, preparedness, and operational efficiency of troops under Operation Hadin Kai.
The statement said the development further highlighted the military’s sustained dominance in denying insurgent groups the ability to carry out successful operations within the region.
In a continuation of offensive actions, the Joint Task Force carried out precision air interdiction missions targeting terrorist enclaves.
One of such strikes was executed at approximately 3:15 a.m. in Sowolowolo, located within the Sambisa Forest axis, a known stronghold of insurgent activity.
Following credible intelligence and target verification, the airstrike successfully destroyed remaining terrorist gun trucks in the area.
Military sources confirmed that the operation brought the total number of neutralized platforms in that location to three, further degrading the operational mobility of the insurgents.
Another precision strike was conducted at Kaniram in the Mallam Fatori axis. According to the statement, the strike targeted terrorists who had reportedly gathered for burial activities following earlier military engagements.
The operation resulted in the neutralization of several fleeing and regrouping fighters, thereby disrupting attempts to reorganize.
Beyond combat engagements, troops also recorded success in humanitarian rescue efforts.
Personnel of Sector 1, operating under the 26 Brigade, carried out a search-and-rescue mission towards the Mandara Mountains.
The operation led to the safe rescue of 15 women and children who had previously been abducted by terrorist elements.
In what was described as a desperate retaliation, elements identified as Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) fired projectiles into Gwoza.
However, the attack caused no casualties or damage, signifying the limited effectiveness of the insurgents’ response.
The military noted that these combined operations reflect strong coordination between ground forces and air components, as well as sustained offensive pressure on terrorist groups operating within the Joint Operations Area.
Authorities reiterated that such synergy remains critical in dismantling insurgent networks and restoring stability in the region.
The High Command commended the troops for their bravery, resilience, and professionalism in the face of persistent threats.
It also urged them to maintain the current operational tempo to ensure continued success against terrorist elements.
Operation Hadin Kai has remained at the forefront of Nigeria’s counter-terrorism campaign in the North-East.
It focuses on eliminating insurgent strongholds, rescuing abducted civilians, and restoring normalcy to affected communities.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to protecting civilians.
They also ensure that terrorist groups are decisively defeated across the theatre of operations.
They assured that ongoing and future operations will remain relentless until lasting peace and security are achieved in the region.
