TD Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party is maintaining the lead in the Osun State governorship election as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues the electronic upload of polling-unit results to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

As of the latest figures available on the portal, Adeleke has polled 371,859 votes, representing 51.1 per cent of the valid votes recorded so far, while his closest challenger, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Oyebamiji, has secured 324,860 votes, or 44.6 per cent.

The figures indicate a margin of 46,999 votes in favour of the incumbent governor.

INEC has uploaded results from 3,292 of the 3,763 polling units in the state, representing 87.48 per cent of the expected polling-unit results.

Checks on the IReV portal showed that the latest upload was recorded at 8:48:08 p.m. on Saturday, from polling unit 29/03/11/007 in Ife North Local Government Area, as collation continued across Osun State’s 30 local government areas.

However, more than an hour after the last upload, the percentage of results displayed on the portal remained at 87.48 per cent, with 471 polling-unit results still outstanding.

Earlier in the evening, the portal had shown 3,119 polling-unit results, representing 82.89 per cent of the expected total.

The subsequent uploads increased the figure to 3,292.

According to the results currently displayed, a total of about 746,100 voters have been accredited, with 728,000 valid votes recorded and approximately 15,400 rejected ballots.

The portal indicates a voter turnout of 43.8 per cent, based on the registered voter population of about 1.70 million in the state.

Adeleke is seeking another term in office after serving as governor since 2022, while Oyebamiji is challenging the incumbent on the platform of the APC.

The emerging figures remain subject to the completion of the electronic transmission and the official collation and declaration of results by INEC.

The figures on the IReV portal are polling-unit results and do not, by themselves, constitute the final declaration of the winner.

With results from 471 polling units yet to be uploaded, the final outcome will depend on the outstanding results and the official collation process.

This Dawn News will continue to monitor the IReV portal and the official collation process as INEC concludes the Osun governorship election.
