TD ABUJA, Nigeria — July 28, 2026 — Supporters of the Obidient Movement and the Kwankwasiyya Movement have formally taken steps to strengthen their proposed alliance ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election with the inauguration of a Joint Harmonisation Committee.

The development was announced in a press release dated July 28, 2026, following what organisers described as growing calls from members of both political movements for closer collaboration in support of a potential Peter Obi–Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso presidential ticket.

According to the statement, the committee has been established to develop a comprehensive framework for coordinating the activities of the two movements and creating a structured platform for cooperation.

The committee has been given two weeks to complete its assignment and submit its recommendations.

The recommendations will subsequently be presented to the former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for their consideration, guidance and approval.

The organisers said the initiative is intended to foster unity, strengthen cooperation and build what they described as a broad-based political platform capable of advancing the aspirations of Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general election.

The Joint Harmonisation Committee comprises representatives from both movements.

Members representing the Kwankwasiyya Movement are:

  1. Dr. Muhammad Hamisu
  2. Asiwaju Moshud Shittu
  3. Dr. Habibu Sale Mai Lemo
  4. Dr. Hamisu Gambo Dan Zaki
  5. Dr. Mansur Hassan

Members representing the Obidient Movement are:

  1. Dr. Tanko Yunusa
  2. Dr. Moses Paul
  3. Aisha Yesufu
  4. Ibrahim Abdulkareem
  5. Jackie Wayas
  6. Chinasa A. Isaac Uduka

The statement was signed by Dr. Tanko Yunusa.

Meanwhile, an X post by @NDCNigNews welcomed the formal structuring of what it described as the “OK Movement,” thanking Obi and Kwankwaso for responding to supporters’ calls for collaboration.

The post urged supporters to begin grassroots mobilisation across the country, stating:

“OKmovement has finally structured.

“Thank you @PeterObi and @KwankwasoRM for listening to us.

“Let’s now mobilize from grassroot.

“Every Unit, Ward, LGA, State.”

The post portrays the newly constituted committee as a mechanism for coordinating opposition forces from the polling-unit level through wards, local government areas and states as preparations for the 2027 presidential election gather momentum.

The announcement reflects increasing cooperation among supporters of both political figures.

It could be recalled that Peter Obi nor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso had formally announced a joint presidential ticket for the 2027 election.

The committee’s report is expected to be submitted to both leaders for consideration before any further political decisions are made.
