A human rights activist and author, Comrade Paul Ikechukwu Njoku, has raised alarm that some group of people, and prominent politicians, clergy and individuals in Abia State are threatening him for his political support and views.

Njoku, known for his courageous advocacy for human rights and good governance, noted that the threats come from “some unscrupulous and disgruntled and gullible political naysayers”.

He said they are threatening, intimidating and embarrassing” him for supporting, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency to unseat the seating Federal House member, Hon. Obi Aguocha, representating Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency at the 2027 elections.

“It is laughable that some people are clinically mischievous to believe I can be cowed, intimidated, harassed and embarrassed for my political support, views, leanings, values and convictions via any candidate I choose to support and vote.

“Let me say categorically that no matter whose ox is gored that I have no apology for supporting Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji to sack the seating Federal law maker representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Hon. Obi Aguocha who in all honesty has failed in his representation at the green chamber of the national assembly.

“I will fight and not tolerate further unscrupulous threats by some disgruntled and gullible political naysayers who are prominent politicians, clergy and individuals in Abia State who choose to be threatening, intimidating and embarrassing me for supporting, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji.

“I have challenged Obi Aguocha who is also my representative to release a verifiable scorecard for scrutiny of his stewardship at the national assembly which he has not unveiled for the world to see.

“I want to see the revolutionary empowerment projects by Hon. Obi Aguocha. I want to see any of his bills that were passed into law.

“Comparing Obi Aguocha and Chinedum Orji is like comparing light with darkness because there is no measurement contest to the extensive and wonderful record of legislative leadership of Chinedum Orji as accumulated over his years of service in the Abia State House of Assembly as he germinated through the ranks from Majority Leader to Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly.

“There he presided over one of the state’s most important democratic institutions, acquiring experience in legislative administration, consensus building, lawmaking, policy oversight, comprehensive empowerment, infrastructure and intergovernmental engagement.

“No body can intimidate me.

“It is therefore within my fundamental human rights and constitutional birth right to politically support any competent politician I wish to support.

“Hon. Obi Aguocha should show us his scorecard and legislative responsibilities that reflect a depth of parliamentary exposure that also distinguishes his legislative representation and demonstrate the institutional knowledge associated with seasoned legislative leadership like Hon. Chinedum Orji.

“Naysayers should compel Obi Aguocha to show them his constituency interventions, infrastructural projects, empowerment programmes and community engagements across different parts of Ikwuano Umuahia/Federal constituency as evidence of his delusional legislative representation”, Njoku fumed.

Recall that Comrade Paul has been consistently and openly advocating, defending and promoting the former Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly to replace the seating Federal lawmaker representating Ikwuano/ Umuahia Federal Constituency, Hon. Obi Aguocha.

Njoku cited gross incompetence, abysmal failure and delusional representation of the later.
