TDThe Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a strong clarification, disowning purported endorsement lists circulating in several states, particularly in the South East.
The list claims that certain individuals have been endorsed by the party ahead of its primaries.
The disclaimer was contained in a press statement signed by Osa Director Esq., National Publicity Secretary of the NDC.
The party leadership stressed that such lists are not official and do not reflect the position of the national leadership.
“Lists Are Fake and Unauthorized”
The statement categorically declared that the national leadership is not aware of any endorsement lists and has not authorized or approved such documents.
“These lists do not represent the position of the party and do not contain the names of several aspirants who officially purchased the party’s Expression of Interest Forms,” the NDC said.
Party members, state executives, stakeholders, and the general public were therefore advised to disregard the lists in their entirety.
NDC Commits to Fair Primaries
The NDC reiterated its earlier resolution that all aspirants who purchased Expression of Interest Forms and successfully passed the screening process will be allowed to participate in the primaries.
This will be done either through consensus arrangements or direct primary elections, in line with the party’s constitution and democratic principles.
The leadership emphasized its commitment to transparency, fairness, and due process throughout the internal electoral process.
Clarification on Eligibility
In a related statement, the party’s Screening and Selection Committees addressed reports that some aspirants were allegedly being prevented from participating in the primaries.
“All aspirants who successfully completed the screening process have been duly cleared and are therefore eligible to participate in the primaries,” the statement affirmed.
It warned that any action by state chapters or officials aimed at preventing cleared aspirants from contesting is “null, void, and of no effect whatsoever.”
Nationwide Primaries
The NDC confirmed that primaries for the presidential, governorship, National Assembly, and State Assembly elections will hold nationwide on May 29, 2026.
It noted that State Assembly primaries will take place within respective constituency areas.
Meanwhile, all other primaries will be conducted at the local government level, as earlier communicated by the party.
By disowning the endorsement lists and clarifying eligibility, the NDC leadership seeks to reassure aspirants and members of its commitment to inclusivity and fairness.
The party insists that no aspirant should be denied participation, and that the primaries must be conducted peacefully and transparently in accordance with its constitution and guidelines.
This firm stance underscores the NDC’s effort to project itself as a credible, people‑oriented political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
