TD KANO, Nigeria — Former Kano State Governor and national political figure, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was greeted by a large crowd of supporters as he welcomed former members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Madobi Local Government Area into the New Democratic Congress (NDC).
The defection event drew a significant turnout, with supporters gathering to witness the formal reception of the new entrants into the party.

According to information shared by the NDC, the defectors from Madobi LGA pledged their allegiance to the party during the gathering, where Kwankwaso addressed supportzers and party members.
Later, the former governor also received Hon. Dr. Danlami Zakari Unguwar Gertai (Garkuwan Gari) and his supporters from Gari Local Government Area, who also announced their defection from the APC to the NDC.
The latest defections are expected to strengthen the NDC’s grassroots presence in Kano State as political parties continue to mobilize supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event was accompanied by chants and displays of support from party faithful, with organizers describing the defections as a reflection of growing confidence in the NDC’s political agenda.
Party supporters usalso ed the occasion to promote the campaign themes #PeoplesPower and #FreeAndFair2027, expressing optimism about the party’s prospects in the next electoral cycle.
