TDHon. Sr. Dr. Augustine Onyekachukwu Ike Ikedoji (popularly known as Mmiri Malugo), the Member representing Nnewi North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly and Chairman of the House Committee on Youth Development and Sports, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Federal House of Representatives seat for Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency.
Ikedoji, who transitioned from lecturing at the university into politics, told his supporters that he is determined to move forward to the national stage to “speak for the good people” of the constituency.
Confidence in APC Victory
During his declaration meeting with ward and local government executives, Ikedoji expressed confidence that he would replicate his earlier success at the state level.
He stated that he would be the first to win a federal election on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform in Anambra State.
He recalled his victory in the House of Assembly election, where he secured over 20,000 votes.
The Nnewi-born politician boldly predicted that he would win the federal seat “before 12 noon on the day of election.”
On Igbo Presidency
Responding to questions about the push for an Igbo presidency, Ikedoji described the term as a “smoke screen” unless approached strategically.
He argued that the reality of an Igbo presidency could only be achieved if the South East supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to complete his remaining four years in office.
According to him, such support would set the ball rolling for a South East presidency.
He added that obstructing Tinubu’s administration would limit the region’s chances to just four years, whereas cooperation could secure eight years for the Igbo presidency project.

Call for Support
Ikedoji urged his constituents to rally behind President Tinubu and his administration, stressing that their support would strengthen the political relevance of Ndi Igbo in Nigeria’s broader political landscape.
He concluded by calling on the people of Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo to unite behind his candidacy and the APC ticket.
He promised to deliver effective representation and a stronger voice for the constituency at the federal level.
