TDAt least nine people have been killed and 11 others injured following a late-night attack on Angwan Magaji community in Kamaru Ward of Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
According to a security report, the attack occurred on the night of June 16, 2026, when suspected Fulani militias reportedly stormed the community, unleashing violence on residents.
Victims Include Women and Children
The victims of the attack included women and children, amongst whom was a four year old boy.
The deceased were identified as:
- Jerry Doctor, 51
- Danlami Magani, 49
- Sunday Chibi, 53
- Rita Abdullahi, 45
- Sunday Elkan, 5
- Esther Kefas, 5
- Happy Friday, 6
- Moses Daddy, 4
- Daddy Ibrahim, 28
Several of the victims were children, highlighting the devastating impact of the attack on families in the community.
Eleven Others Sustain Injuries
Those reported injured in the incident include:

- Faith Yakubu, 26

The injured victims reportedly sustained varying degrees of wounds and are receiving medical attention.
Renewed Concerns Over Security
The latest attack has intensified concerns over the persistent violence affecting Irigwe communities in Kaduna State.
Community members and concerned stakeholders described the incident as another tragic chapter in a series of attacks that have claimed numerous lives and displaced residents over the years.
Calls have been made for security agencies to investigate the incident thoroughly and ensure that those responsible are apprehended and prosecuted.
Demand for Justice
Condemning the attack, community leaders and residents urged the government and security authorities to take decisive measures to protect vulnerable communities and prevent further bloodshed.
“Our communities have suffered repeated attacks.
“We call on the relevant security agencies to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice,” the statement said.
The attack has left the Irigwe community in deep mourning.
