TD The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI has delivered another decisive blow against insurgents in the North-East, destroying a concealed terrorist stronghold in Borno State and neutralising several fighters in a precision airstrike.

According to security sources, the operation was conducted on August 4 following credible intelligence on renewed terrorist activity around Chiralia.

Chiralia is a densely wooded area long exploited by insurgents as a hideout due to its difficult terrain and natural camouflage.

The location has historically served as a staging ground for ambushes and supply routes, making its destruction a significant setback for the insurgents.

Intelligence-Led Operation

At about 11:40 a.m., an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform was deployed to conduct an armed reconnaissance mission.

During the mission, several terrorists and multiple concealed life-support structures serving as operational shelters, logistics hubs, and staging points were identified.

After confirming the targets, the ISR platform maintained continuous surveillance while relaying real-time intelligence and precise coordinates to attack aircraft.

The aircraft executed a series of precision strikes that scored direct hits on the concealed positions.

Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) confirmed the complete destruction of the terrorist camp, with all life-support structures reduced to rubble.

Several insurgents were killed, while secondary explosions and sustained fires indicated the destruction of ammunition, supplies, and other logistics stored within the enclave.

The fires reportedly burned for hours, signaling the scale of the stockpiles destroyed.

Military Assurances

Military sources described the strike as a well-coordinated intelligence-led operation.

The strikes underscore the growing synergy between airborne surveillance assets and precision strike capabilities under Operation HADIN KAI.

The sources noted that the operation would significantly degrade the terrorist cell’s ability to regroup, launch attacks, and sustain logistics in the area.

Officials emphasized that the Nigerian Air Force and Army are increasingly integrating advanced surveillance technologies with precision-guided munitions.

This will ensure that strikes are both effective and minimize collateral damage.

This approach, they said, reflects a broader shift toward modernized counter-insurgency tactics.

The military high command assured Nigerians that troops remain combat-ready and committed to dismantling all remaining terrorist enclaves.

They emphasized that offensive air campaigns targeting terrorist sanctuaries across the North-East will continue until lasting peace is restored.

Outlook

While the overall security situation in Borno remains relatively calm, the latest strike demonstrates the Nigerian military’s determination to sustain pressure on insurgents and deny them safe havens.

Analysts say the precision strike is part of a broader strategy to weaken insurgent networks, disrupt their logistics, and reassure communities that the fight against terrorism remains a top priority.

Observers note that such operations not only degrade insurgent capabilities but also send a strong message of resilience to local populations who have endured years of violence.

The destruction of Chiralia’s stronghold is expected to bolster confidence in the military’s ability to protect vulnerable communities.

It will also pave the way for humanitarian and developmental efforts in liberated areas.

This strike, analysts conclude, is another reminder that Nigeria’s counter-insurgency campaign is evolving.

It is combining intelligence, technology, and tactical precision to deliver decisive outcomes against entrenched terrorist networks.
