TDComrade C.C. Emereonwu has cautioned aspirants within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to make urgent political decisions or risk exclusion from the 2027 general elections.
Comrade Emereonwu made the remarks while speaking on Straight Talk, a programme aired on Odenigbo 99.1 FM.
Emereonwu stressed that aspirants who remain in the ADC beyond May 10, 2026, without defecting to another party may jeopardize their chances of appearing on the ballot.
According to him, the realities of Nigeria’s new Electoral Act and the strict timelines for party primaries demand clarity and decisiveness from serious contenders.
“Elections are governed by timelines, regulations, and party structures.
“Waiting too long in a party facing internal uncertainty or strategic weakness could affect one’s chances of participating fully in the primary process.
“Politics requires both timing and smart calculation,” he said.
Risks and Chances
Emereonwu emphasized that aspirants who fail to reposition themselves before the deadline risk being perceived as indecisive by supporters and political observers.
He noted that by this stage, committed aspirants should already have defined their political direction and chosen their platform.
They ought to have also mapped out strategies for the contests ahead.
He further warned that party primaries are critical stages in the electoral process, as they determine who eventually appears on the ballot.
Emereonwu Slams Politicians Who Fail to Reposition Themselves
Missing deadlines, failing to secure a viable platform, or remaining inactive politically could end an aspirant’s ambition before the main election begins.
“Leadership positions are not won by hesitation, but by preparation, courage, and strategic movement at the right time,” Emereonwu remarked.
Concluding his remarks, he advised aspirants with genuine interest in the 2027 elections to study the political landscape carefully and act with wisdom.
He maintained that those who fail to reposition themselves before crucial deadlines may not only lose relevance but may also fail to make the final ballot.
