TDIn a significant show of unity on Democracy Day, the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Distinguished Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, hosted the Party’s Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi, CON, alongside other senior leaders and stakeholders in a high‑level closed‑door meeting.

The strategic session, which lasted over three hours, was convened to strengthen internal cohesion, consolidate efforts, and chart a clear path for the Party’s future political engagements.

According to insiders, the meeting provided an opportunity to review recent developments.

It addressed concerns raised by members and supporters across the country, and reaffirm the Party’s collective resolve.

Key Outcomes

At the conclusion of deliberations, Senator Dickson announced that all issues had been extensively discussed and amicably resolved in the overall interest of the Party and the Nigerian people.

He emphasized that the NDC leadership remains united and focused on building a stronger political alternative capable of rescuing Nigeria from years of poor governance.

“While differing opinions may arise in any democratic organization, our leadership remains committed to continuous consultation, dialogue, mutual respect, and collective decision‑making.

“This is how we will strengthen the Party’s cohesion and effectiveness,” Senator Dickson stated.

He urged members and supporters nationwide to refrain from unnecessary bickering, divisive rhetoric, and name‑calling.

He stressed that the larger mission is to build a united, formidable, and people‑oriented political movement.

Commitment to Unity and Renewal

Senator Dickson assured party faithful that he, Mr. Peter Obi, and other leaders of the NDC will continue to engage constructively.

He assured they will resolve concerns where necessary and provide the leadership required to advance the Party’s vision for a better Nigeria.

The meeting reaffirmed the Party’s commitment to:

  • Strengthening internal structures to ensure effective organization
  • Mobilizing Nigerians towards national renewal and democratic governance
  • Promoting sustainable development through credible leadership and reform‑driven policies

Broader Significance

The Democracy Day meeting underscores the NDC’s determination to position itself as a credible alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape.

By prioritizing unity and dialogue, the Party aims to consolidate its base and present a cohesive front ahead of future political contests.

As Senator Dickson concluded, the Nigeria Democratic Congress remains steadfast in its resolve to offer credible leadership and a new direction for Nigeria, rooted in democratic values and responsive governance.
