TDThe Coalition for Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) has officially announced plans for the Anambra NDC Political and Mobilisation Summit, a landmark gathering set to take place in Awka, Anambra State.
The summit is envisioned as a broad-based political convergence, bringing together stakeholders from across Nigeria’s diverse social and political spectrum.
Attendees will include youths, professionals, women groups, market leaders, civil society organisations, and grassroots supporters—all united by a shared commitment to the emergence of credible and transformational leadership for the country.
At the heart of the summit lies a pivotal moment: the formal endorsement of two prominent figures in Nigeria’s political landscape:
- His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi as Presidential Candidate of the NDC
- His Excellency, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as Vice Presidential Candidate and Running Mate
COPDEM highlighted that this endorsement is not merely symbolic.
Rather, it represents a strategic alignment aimed at building a coalition rooted in competence, integrity, equity, security, and economic prosperity.

The COPDEM Political Wheel
The organisation stressed that the summit would serve as a platform for mobilisation, consultation, and unity.
It will also foster dialogue among diverse groups and strengthening the foundations of a new Nigeria.
The choice of Awka, Anambra State, as the venue underscores the region’s historical and political significance, particularly as a hub of civic engagement and democratic activism.
While the venue has been confirmed, COPDEM noted that the exact date and time of the summit will be announced soon.
At the right time, further details will be communicated officially.
The summit is expected to generate momentum across Nigeria’s political landscape and galvanise support for Obi.
It is also expected to lay the groundwork for coalition building ahead of the next electoral cycle.
It could be recalled that This Dawn News report on Monday that the former Labour Party presidential candidate officially picked the NDC presidential nomination form.
The move signaled his formal entry into the race ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The form was picked up on his behalf by members of the Obidient Movement.
The development has generated excitement among supporters across the country.
It brings to end months of speculation over Obi’s political future and possible alliances with opposition figures.
