TDFresh developments have emerged in the corruption trial involving former Nigerian petroleum minister Diezani Alison-Madueke in the United Kingdom.
Reports from the ongoing trial indicates that a UK judge, Justice Justine Thornton, dismissed some allegations before the court.
The jugde ruled that there was no evidence she improperly awarded oil contracts.
The judge also instructed jurors to consider her as a person of “good character” while deliberating on the remaining bribery charges.
The judge at Southwark Crown Court reportedly dismissed some allegations before the trial commenced.
The judge held that there was no evidence that Diezani improperly performed her official duties in the award of oil contracts.
Justice Thornton also directed the jury to consider Alison-Madueke’s “good character” and absence of previous convictions while assessing the remaining bribery charges.
However, prosecutors continue to pursue several counts of alleged bribery and conspiracy.
The prosecutors insist that luxury benefits she received from oil businessmen were improper.
Diezani has denied all allegations, while the jury is expected to begin deliberations later this week.
