Speaking with journalists in Awka, Anambra State, Okoye described Otti as an outstanding leader whose administration had recorded significant achievements across critical sectors of Abia State’s economy since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
According to the LP chairman, the Abia governor has established himself as a reference point for good governance and purposeful leadership in Nigeria.

“Dr Otti has become a reference point for good governance and well-focused leadership in Nigeria,” Okoye said.
Infrastructure And Transportation
Highlighting the governor’s achievements, Okoye identified infrastructure development as one of the administration’s major areas of progress.
He claimed that the Otti administration had completed 414 road projects spanning more than 800 kilometres, including major roads such as Port Harcourt Road and Ohanku Road in Aba, the six-lane Aguiyi Ironsi Boulevard in Umuahia, Omenuko Bridge and the Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Abiriba-Ohafia Road.
He added that another 82 road projects were nearing completion.
The LP chairman also highlighted the introduction of electric buses and green shuttle services, describing the initiative as part of efforts to improve intra-state transportation and stimulate economic activities.
Debt Reduction And Fiscal Management
On financial management, Okoye credited the Abia governor with significantly reducing the state’s inherited public debt profile by more than 70 per cent through what he described as disciplined fiscal management.
He also praised the administration for maintaining a relatively high capital expenditure-to-recurrent expenditure ratio, arguing that the approach demonstrated a commitment to infrastructure development and productive investment.
Healthcare Delivery
In the healthcare sector, the Anambra LP chairman said the Otti administration had recruited and deployed nearly 1,000 healthcare professionals across state-owned medical facilities.
He further noted that the government had renovated and revitalised primary healthcare centres and general hospitals while allocating approximately 15 per cent of the state budget to the health sector.
According to him, these interventions were aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and improving access to medical services across Abia State.
Education And Youth Development
Okoye also highlighted developments in education and human capital development.
He said the administration had recruited more than 5,000 teachers in a single exercise as part of efforts to improve teaching standards and transform primary and secondary schools into smart schools across the state.
He further disclosed that more than ₦300 million had been earmarked to support technology-driven enterprises and youth training in emerging fields, including artificial intelligence, software engineering and cybersecurity.
Civil Service And Workers’ Welfare
On workers’ welfare, the LP chairman commended Otti for maintaining regular payment of salaries and pensions, which he said had addressed prolonged payment arrears.
He also praised the administration for introducing what he described as a transparent, merit-based civil service recruitment process designed to eliminate bribery, favouritism and political patronage.
Security
Addressing security challenges, Okoye said the Abia State Government had adopted technology-driven surveillance and strengthened security partnerships to combat criminal activities across the state.
He described the measures as important interventions towards improving public safety and creating a more secure environment for residents and businesses.

Reaffirming the Anambra chapter’s admiration for the Abia governor, Okoye described him as a national leader of the Labour Party and an ambassador of its principles.
“We in Anambra are very proud of you as our National Leader and a shining ambassador of Labour Party’s ideals of productivity, prudence and people-oriented governance,” he stated.
The state chairman also prayed for God’s blessings upon the governor, safe journeys for participants and a successful campaign flag-off.
He expressed optimism that the event would proceed peacefully and without any disruption.
Otti’s re-election campaign flag-off is expected to provide an opportunity for his supporters and political associates to celebrate his administration’s record while outlining his political ambitions ahead of the next Abia governorship election.
