THIS DAWN — Alhaji Mohammed Ali Jajari, the 2023 Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Borno State, has formally resigned his membership from the party and officially registered with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to a statement released by his media team, Jajari’s decision followed wide consultations and careful consideration of the political realities and aspirations of the people of Borno State.

The statement emphasized that his move to ADC is driven by an unwavering commitment to:

  • Good governance
  • Justice and inclusiveness
  • Genuine service to the people of Borno State and Nigeria at large

Jajari had pledged to provide purposeful leadership and present a credible alternative platform that aligns with the yearnings of the masses.

Appreciation to Supporters

The former PDP candidate expressed gratitude to party leaders, supporters, and well-wishers for their loyalty and sacrifices throughout his political journey.

He called on all progress-minded citizens to join him in building a stronger, united, and prosperous Borno State under the ADC platform.

The statement framed Jajari’s defection as the beginning of a new chapter in his political career, stressing that “the people remain the priority.”

His defection underscores the fluid nature of Nigeria’s political landscape, where alliances and party loyalties continue to shift.

The political class continue to shift, seeking platforms that reflect their ambitions and the aspirations of their constituents.

Nigeria’s political landscape is witnessing fresh realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections,

Earlier in the day, This Dawn reported that several prominent figures are defecting to the ADC, including former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Musa Daura.

In a recent development, ahead of his defection, Jajari, on January 12, attended the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of the Borno State ADC Transitional Caretaker Committee held in Maiduguri.

He noted that the event marked an important step in strengthening the party’s structure at the state level.
