TD Abuja, FCT — The family of former Kaduna State Governor and former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has demanded that the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd.), provide evidence or retract an allegation that El-Rufai actively planned killings in Southern Kaduna while serving as governor.

The demand was contained in a statement issued on Monday by Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai on behalf of the El-Rufai family.

The family said it had noted with “serious concern” comments respecting Southern Kaduna allegedly made by General Musa during a live edition of Politics Today on Channels Television on September 3, 2026.

What General Christopher Musa Said About Southern Kaduna Killings

According to the statement, the Defence Minister alleged during the programme that the former Kaduna governor actively planned killings in Southern Kaduna while in office.

The family described the Southern Kaduna allegation as “grave”.

It expressed concern that no evidence was presented during the broadcast to substantiate the claim.

“While General Musa (Rtd.) is entitled to hold and express his personal opinions, the El-Rufai family is equally entitled to demand that such serious allegations be substantiated with credible evidence,” the statement said.

The family subsequently called on the Defence Minister to either provide credible evidence supporting the allegation respecting Southern Kaduna killings.

Otherwise, he should publicly retract it through the same medium on which it was made.

It gave General Musa a seven-day deadline, beginning from the date of the statement, to comply with the demand.

“Accordingly, General Musa (Rtd.) is hereby given seven (7) days from the date of this statement to either provide evidence in support of his allegation or issue a full public retraction and apology,” the family stated.

El-Rufai Family Threatens Next Level Action

The family warned that failure to provide evidence or retract the allegation would leave it with no option but to pursue “all appropriate legal remedies available under the law.”

The statement was signed by Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai for and on behalf of the El-Rufai family in Abuja.

The dispute comes against the backdrop of longstanding controversies and competing claims over security challenges and deadly violence that occurred in Southern Kaduna during El-Rufai’s tenure as governor.

The family, however, strongly condemned allegations of personal involvement in Southern Kaduna planning and killings,

It noted that are sufficiently serious to require credible evidence and should not be made without substantiation.

The statement concluded by reiterating the family’s demand for either evidence or a full public retraction and apology within the seven-day period.
