TD Come Thursday, September 10, 2027, young people across Enugu State will have the opportunity to interface and interact with experienced resource persons who will educate them on the numerous opportunities available under various programmes and initiatives of the Federal Government aimed at improving the lives and livelihoods of Nigerians across the country.
The programme, organized by the Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State in the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Peter Ezeh, is designed to bring government opportunities closer to the people, particularly the youth, and equip them with the information and knowledge required to take advantage of such opportunities.
Tagged “Peter Eze Youth Connect,” the programme has as its theme, “Unlocking Opportunities for Enugu Youth Through the Federal Character Commission.”
According to Hon. Ezeh, the initiative is expected to connect young people residing in Enugu, the Coal City State, with a broader understanding of the opportunities and benefits available to them through President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The programme will feature carefully selected resource persons who, according to the Commissioner, are well exposed, experienced and knowledgeable in their respective fields. They are expected to educate participants on the various government programmes, initiatives and opportunities available to Nigerian youths, as well as what they need to know and the steps they need to take to access them.
Addressing a section of youths ahead of the programme in an online broadcast, Hon. Peter Ezeh explained that the initiative was conceived to bridge the information gap between the government and young Nigerians by bringing information about available opportunities directly to them.
He noted that many government programmes and initiatives exist across different sectors, but that a significant number of young people may not be adequately informed about them or may not know how to access the benefits.
According to him, the programme is therefore aimed at ensuring that the youth are properly informed and positioned to take advantage of the opportunities being created by the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“This program is about teaching people how to catch fish in the river, not to just give them fish and abandon them, no. The program is aimed at getting the youth be in the know with the right information about opportunities that are available for them in what the Federal government is doing in various sectors including security, education, health, finance, economy, business, agriculture, science and technology among others,” Ezeh said.
The Commissioner further explained that the essence of the initiative goes beyond providing temporary assistance, stressing that sustainable empowerment begins with access to the right information, knowledge and opportunities.
He said the youth need to understand the policies and programmes of government, know where the opportunities are located, understand the requirements for accessing them and learn how to position themselves to benefit.
He emphasized that the Federal Character Commission has an important role to play in ensuring that the people of Enugu State are adequately represented and are not left out of opportunities arising from federal government programmes and interventions.
Hon. Ezeh, therefore, called on youths from across the villages, towns and communities in Enugu State to make deliberate efforts to attend the programme.
He urged young people not to allow the opportunity to pass them by, stressing that staying informed is critical at a time when government is increasingly bringing opportunities closer to citizens.
The Commissioner noted that the programme is particularly important because it will provide participants with direct access to people who can explain available opportunities, provide relevant information and guide them on what to do to benefit from government initiatives.
He encouraged youths across the state to see Peter Eze Youth Connect not merely as another gathering, but as an opportunity to acquire knowledge that could open doors to education, employment, entrepreneurship, business development, agriculture, financial opportunities, technology and other areas capable of improving their lives.
He maintained that young people who take advantage of the right information and position themselves appropriately will be better prepared to benefit from the opportunities available under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Commissioner consequently appealed to youths across Enugu State to come out and participate fully in the programme, warning that those who fail to seek information and engage with available opportunities risk being left behind.
According to him, the government is opening its doors and bringing opportunities closer to the people, and the responsibility now rests on the youth to take advantage of the platforms being created for them.
He expressed optimism that Peter Eze Youth Connect would provide Enugu youths with the knowledge, exposure and practical information required to identify and access opportunities that can positively transform their lives and contribute to the development of the state and the country at large.
The programme is expected to bring together youths from different parts of Enugu State, alongside resource persons and stakeholders who will provide practical insights into federal government programmes and opportunities across various sectors.
