TD The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has activated its online recruitment portal, INECPRES, for Nigerians interested in serving as ad-hoc election personnel during the 2027 General Elections.
According to a public notice issued by the Commission, applications opened at 8:00 a.m. on September 18, 2026, and will close at 12 midnight on November 18, 2026.
The official INECPRES portal confirms that the recruitment exercise is currently active and that the closing date is November 18, 2026.
How to Apply
Applicants can access the recruitment platform through the official Independent National Electoral Commission website and the dedicated INECPRES portal.

INEC’s main website also provides access to the INECPRES recruitment information and eligibility requirements.
The Commission says the portal is designed for the recruitment of several categories of election personnel.
These include:
- Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs),
- Presiding Officers (POs),
- Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs),
- RAC Managers, and,
- Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH) personnel.
Who Can Apply? INEC’s published eligibility requirements cover several categories of Nigerians.

Supervisory Presiding Officers
Eligible categories include public servants, Federal, State and Local Government employees, and INEC personnel, subject to the applicable grade-level and employment requirements.
The current INECPRES portal states that SPO applicants generally must be public or civil servants on Grade Level 10–14, or eligible INEC personnel within the specified requirements.

Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers
The recruitment covers serving NYSC corps members, eligible students of tertiary institutions, certain permanent government/MDA employees and eligible former corps members.
INEC’s current portal specifically lists serving corps members, penultimate-year students, eligible permanent MDA staff and former corps members from 2024 among the categories for PO/APO recruitment.

RAC Managers
RAC Manager positions are also available through the portal.
According to INEC, the position is intended for eligible staff associated with institutions or public buildings hosting Registration Area Centres, subject to the Commission’s requirements.

RATECHs
INEC is also recruiting personnel for technical support functions.
The RATECH category is intended for applicants with relevant ICT backgrounds, including eligible INEC ICT personnel and other qualified technical personnel under the applicable recruitment criteria.
Important Eligibility Conditions
INEC’s current INECPRES portal also lists general conditions for applicants.
Among other requirements, applicants must not be members of a political party and must not have demonstrated or expressed support for a candidate or political party.
Applicants are also generally required to reside in the state selected, except where the rules provide otherwise for technical personnel.
Applicants are therefore advised to carefully review the eligibility requirements for the specific position before beginning the registration process.

INEC says technical assistance is available through its IT Service Management helpdesk on a 24-hour basis during the recruitment exercise.

2027 Elections and Application Deadline
The recruitment exercise is part of INEC’s preparations for the 2027 General Elections.
INEC’s published election calendar currently schedules the Presidential and House of Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, followed by the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections on February 6, 2027.
INEC has previously used the INECPRES platform to recruit temporary election personnel.
Its official 2023 General Election report states that ad-hoc personnel were recruited through INECPRES and included serving NYSC members, government employees, and staff and students of tertiary institutions.
Interested and eligible applicants have until 12 midnight on Wednesday, November 18, 2026, to complete their applications.
