A viral video featuring a Northern Nigerian man has sparked fresh conversations about political leadership, integrity and public trust ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
In the video, the unidentified man employs an unusual banking analogy involving hypothetical financial institutions owned by prominent Nigerian politicians, asking citizens where they would feel safest depositing their money.
The politicians featured in his comparison are Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi; President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore.
Using the names of the politicians as fictional bank brands, the man challenges Nigerians to consider which institution they would trust with their hard-earned money.
The video features campaign-style branding, including signs bearing names such as “ATIKU BANK” and “OBI BANK”, alongside promotional messages reading “COME AND INVEST”.
‘Which Bank Would You Take Your Money To?’
In the recording, the man explains that Nigeria is approaching another campaign period and insists that he has the right to express his political preferences in his own way.
He then introduces his hypothetical banking scenario, asking Nigerians to imagine having several banks owned by the country’s leading political figures.
He says: “For Allah’s sake, Nigerians, where will you carry your money to?”
He subsequently repeats the question, naming Peter Obi, Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar and Sowore as the hypothetical owners of the competing financial institutions.
The central question is which of the four banks Nigerians would trust with their deposits.
Although the banks are fictional, the comparison is intended to provoke reflection on the integrity, credibility, financial management abilities and leadership competence associated with the politicians.
Towards the end of the video, the man makes his political preference clearer, declaring:
“Peace and love. Peter Obi loading 2027.”
Political Analyst Shares Video as Nigerians Debate Its Message
The video was shared on November 3, 2026, by political analyst and has attracted considerable attention on social media.
According to the accompanying post, the clip had generated more than 2,600 likes and 96,000 views, reflecting growing engagement with political conversations surrounding the 2027 presidential election.
The analyst praised the man’s presentation, describing the unexpected conclusion and creative arrangement as an example of smart thinking that Nigerians should watch.
The banking analogy has also drawn attention because it transforms an otherwise familiar political endorsement into a question about financial security and institutional confidence.
Beyond Political Campaigns: The Question of Public Trust
The analogy touches on a fundamental issue in Nigerian politics: the extent to which citizens trust political leaders with the country’s economic resources and national institutions.
Banks depend heavily on public confidence.
Customers entrust their savings to financial institutions based on considerations such as credibility, accountability, competence, financial stability and the ability to protect their deposits.
By transferring this principle to politics, the man invites Nigerians to evaluate presidential aspirants using similar considerations.
However, the hypothetical comparison does not establish the actual financial competence or integrity of any of the politicians mentioned.
Rather, it reflects the campaigner’s political argument and the importance of public perception in electoral contests.
With the 2027 elections approaching, the video provides another illustration of how supporters are deploying creative messaging, satire and unconventional campaign strategies to promote their preferred candidates.
For Peter Obi’s supporters, the closing declaration, “Peter Obi loading 2027”, reinforces the growing political mobilisation around his anticipated presidential ambition.
