TDPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle in the Federal Executive Council (FEC), relieving two ministers of their duties.
President Tinubu immediately named their replacements in a move, he said, is aimed at strengthening governance under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, Mr. Wale Edun and Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa are to leave the cabinet.
Wale Edun
Wale Edun, until now the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, has been directed to hand over to Mr. Taiwo Oyedele.
Oyedele has been elevated from Minister of State to full Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

Ahmed Musa Dangiwa
Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, is to hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry, pending the assumption of office by Mr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma (PhD).
Darma has been named ministerial nominee and minister-designate for Housing and Urban Development.
The memo instructed that all handing over and taking over processes must be completed on or before close of business Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Explaining the President’s decision, SGF Akume said:
“These changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion, synergy in governance as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians, through the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
He further noted that President Tinubu acted under the powers conferred on him by Sections 147 and 148 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999, as amended).
The President expressed gratitude to the outgoing ministers for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavors.
Akume added that the President assured all cabinet members that “the process of reinvigoration shall be continuous.”
