TDThe Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has commended Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, for procuring armoured personnel carriers, surveillance drones and other operational equipment to enhance security operations in the state.
Speaking at a ceremony in Gusau, the state capital, Governor Lawal formally handed over 25 armoured personnel carriers to security agencies.
The donation also included a long-endurance surveillance drone capable of covering a radius of up to 50 kilometres and remaining airborne for approximately eight hours.
Zamfara Governor Presents the Acquired Equipment
Presenting the equipment, the governor noted that the latest procurement builds on earlier support provided by the state government.
Included among the procurements are Hilux vehicles, Toyota Buffaloes — both armoured and soft-body variants.
Also included are over 600 specialised motorcycles to aid rapid response operations.
Operational vehicles were also distributed to the Community Protection Guards to strengthen grassroots security efforts.

Battle Against Insecurity
Governor Lawal stated that the investments are part of structured security reforms under his administration’s Rescue Mission agenda.
He emphasised the importance of improved coordination among security agencies, sustained logistics support, and intelligence-driven operations in tackling banditry and related crimes across the state.
He urged security personnel to ensure disciplined deployment and proper maintenance of the newly acquired assets to maximise their operational lifespan and effectiveness.
General Musa’s Acknowledgments
In his remarks, General Musa described the procurement as a bold demonstration of commitment to public safety.
He noted that the fact that the equipment was fully paid for underscores the seriousness of the state government’s resolve.
According to him, the acquisition sends a clear message to criminal elements and reinforces the government’s determination to safeguard lives and property.
Zamfara State has faced persistent security challenges in recent years.
Authorities have intensified efforts to restore stability through enhanced collaboration between state and federal security agencies.
