TDThe West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Nigeria, has officially announced the release of results for the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for Private Candidates, 2026–First Series.
The release of the CB-WASSCE results for Private Candidates, 2026 First Series marks another milestone in WAEC’s digital transformation.
It also showcases improved performance statistics and expanded candidate participation nationwide.
According to WAEC, candidates who sat for the examination will be able to access their results within the next 12 hours via the Council’s official result-checking portal.
Examination Overview
- The examination was conducted between January 28 and February 14, 2026 at 166 centers nationwide.
- A total of 10,523 candidates registered, representing an 11.49% increase compared to 2025.
- Of these, 10,480 candidates sat for the examination, comprising 5,106 males (48.72%) and 5,374 females (51.28%).
- Special provisions were made for 43 candidates with special needs, including visually impaired, hearing-impaired, and albino candidates.
Performance Statistics
- 8,418 candidates (80.32%) had their results fully processed and released.
- 2,062 candidates (19.68%) had some subjects still being processed due to errors traceable to them, but WAEC assured that these would be completed shortly.
- 4,598 candidates (43.87%) obtained credit and above in at least five subjects (with or without English Language and Mathematics).
- 3,429 candidates (32.72%) obtained credit and above in five subjects including English Language and Mathematics — a 5.76% improvement compared to 2025.
- 75 candidates (0.72%) had their results withheld due to reported cases of examination malpractice, pending investigation.

Candidates are advised to:
- Visit www.waecdirect.org to check their results.
- Access digital copies of their certificates via the WAEC Digital Certificate platform (www.waec.org).
- Apply for hard copies of certificates through the WAEC Certificate Request Portal.

WAEC’s Message
WAEC congratulated successful candidates.
It also expressed gratitude to government agencies, ministries of education, supervisors, invigilators, and security agencies for their support in ensuring the smooth conduct of the examination.
WAEC noted that it did not authorise any previously circulated versions, adding that this link contains the only valid schedule.
How to Check Your WAEC Results
- Visit the WAEC Result Portal Go to www.waecdirect.org using any browser on your phone, tablet, or computer.
- Enter Your Examination Number
- Type in your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number (this includes your 7-digit centre number and 3-digit candidate number).
- Select Examination Year
- Choose 2026 from the drop-down menu.
- Select Examination Type
- Choose Private Candidates – First Series (CB-WASSCE).
- Enter Your PIN and Serial Number
- Use the Result Checker PIN and Serial Number printed on your WAEC scratch card or e-PIN voucher.
- Click “Submit”
- Your result will be displayed instantly on the screen.
- Print or Save Your Result
- Use the print option or take a screenshot to keep a copy for future reference.
