TDMr. Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate in Nigeria’s 2023 elections, addressed supporters during an interactive session of the Obidient Movement in Enugu State.
Speaking to a packed audience, he emphasized the importance of building a nation where opportunities are accessible to all, regardless of background.
His remarks highlighted the movement’s commitment to accountability, good governance, and the empowerment of ordinary citizens.
Obi said amongst other things:
“The Federal Government of Nigeria doesn’t want me to contest in the 2027 presidential election. Everything they are doing is about me.
They have all the governors, ministers, contacts, and even know the King and Queen, but I don’t know why they are still afraid.
Nobody wanting to run for president in 2027 is more qualified than I am.
On this journey, I’ve seen everything, but it doesn’t affect me. Ask about my tenure as governor, I dealt with insecurity effectively.”
“For those asking whether ADC will give me the presidential ticket, I’m not certain, but I’m fighting for it.
Someone told me today that people are saying I shouldn’t come to their state to campaign.
I’m not afraid of anyone, anybody can d!e at any time. I will go anywhere in this country if there’s a need to go there.”
“We are not asking for much. We just want to build a country where a child of nobody can become somebody without knowing many people.
Those stealing from our country came from such poor backgrounds that had opportunities, yet they choose to steal.
That is exactly what we want to change.
It won’t be easy because we are up against a criminal system, which is why they are doing everything to stop us.”
