TDPalpable tension is mounting in the Mpape community of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) following reports from residents alleging the presence of suspected terrorists within the area.
According to a statement attributed to concerned residents, unidentified individuals described as “terrorists” have reportedly occupied the Mpape Football Field.
The residents raised fears of a potential security breach in the outskirts quarters in Abuja.

Another report also claimed that intelligence gathered within the community suggests that groups of armed, able-bodied men were sighted arriving in large numbers on motorcycles.
They were reportedly heading toward nearby locations, including Akwanga in neighboring Nasarawa State.
Additionally, the report alleged that the suspected groups may be planning to launch attacks and possibly take over residential homes in Mpape, using the area as a strategic base for further operations within the FCT.
The movement has heightened suspicions of coordinated activity in and around Mpape.

Residents say the situation has created widespread fear, with many calling for immediate intervention by authorities.
They specifically urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and security operatives to investigate the allegations.

Efforts to reach security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant authorities, for confirmation or response were ongoing as of press time.
Mpape, a densely populated suburb on the outskirts of Abuja, has in recent years experienced rapid growth, making security concerns in the area particularly sensitive.
