THIS DAWN — Nigerian music legend Innocent Ujah Idibia, widely known as 2Baba, has appealed for calm as tensions surrounding him and members of his family continue to spiral across social media.
In a video shared on Wednesday, 2Baba, an award-winning singer, warned that the situation has reached a “dangerous” point and urged supporters to stop amplifying the controversy.
“This is getting out of hand. And this is a dangerous situation right now.
“I know what fans can do, I know what people can do.
“I am perfectly okay… and this is putting Natasha at risk.
“It’s not fair to anybody to do this kind of thing,” 2Baba said in the clip, his tone noticeably strained.

The message comes amid a wave of speculation following a series of incidents involving 2Baba, his wife Annie Idibia, and Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru.
What began as an alleged altercation in the United Kingdom — one that reportedly drew police attention and briefly resulted in 2Baba’s arrest — has since erupted into a full-blown online spectacle.
The matter resurfaced dramatically during an Instagram Live session hosted by broadcaster Daddy Freeze, where 2Baba and Osawaru were seen arguing on camera.

Rumours and conspiracy theories
Clips from the livestream have gone viral, fueling rumours, conspiracy theories and heated debates across Nigeria’s online community.
The situation escalated further earlier on Wednesday when 2Baba posted a cryptic message on his Instagram Story: “Help me.”
The two-word plea triggered immediate alarm among fans and industry colleagues, many of whom have expressed concern for his emotional and mental well-being.
Adding to the unease, the singer’s brother, Hyacinth Idibia, shared a deeply emotional Instagram post urging the public to “allow us save you.”
Pairing his message with lyrics from one of 2Baba’s reflective songs, Hyacinth wrote:
“You’ve always been ahead, always been brilliant…
Lyrics meant to inspire, but somehow it’s unfolding in real time.
Painful reality. You’ve been suffering for too long. God knows.”
Amid the growing frenzy, 2Baba is now pleading for a halt to the online hostilities.
“Please, I need everybody to calm down. I need everybody to cease fire.
We are going to resolve all these issues.
“Please, I beg you… I am perfectly fine,” he said.
As of press time, neither 2Baba, Annie Idibia, nor Natasha Osawaru has issued a detailed statement, leaving the public anxiously awaiting further clarity.
