THIS DAWN — A dramatic confrontation erupted on Monday morning aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight from Asaba to Lagos when social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), and comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, widely called Mr Jollof, engaged in a physical altercation before takeoff.
The fight broke out moments after passengers had settled into their seats.
Witnesses said the tension escalated rapidly, forcing fellow travellers to step in and separate the duel.
Cabin crew subsequently alerted airline officials, who ordered both men removed from the aircraft at Asaba International Airport for safety reasons.
Their removal caused a brief delay before the flight continued to Lagos.

VeryDarkMan confirms scuffles with Mr Jollof
Shortly after the incident, VeryDarkMan took to his Facebook page to confirm the altercation, boasting that he had “dealt with” Mr Jollof during the scuffle.
In a mix of English and pidgin, he narrated his version of events: “I don chop Jollof fada for inside plane.
“Man wey dey bite. E nor shame, e dey bite… I enter plane, I see am naim I tell am say today you go slap me oo…
“Naim e punch me… when I follow am, e start to bite me… him eye red.”
The clash is the latest escalation in a long-running feud between the two internet personalities, who have traded accusations online for over a year.
Their quarrel, fuelled by allegations of fraud, insults, and threats, has repeatedly spilled onto social media platforms.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has opened an inquiry into the VeryDarkMan versus Mr Jollof incident.
NCAA officials said passenger safety remains paramount.
The officials noted that that fighting on board an aircraft—whether on the ground or in the air—constitutes a serious breach of aviation regulations.
Further disciplinary action may follow as investigators review statements, passenger footage, and airline reports.
