THIS DAWN — A circulating opinion poll conducted by an unnamed individual has sparked debate online after claiming that Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is “the most disliked person” in the country’s contemporary political landscape.

The informal survey, which has been widely shared on social media, alleges a broad spectrum of disapproval cutting across religious, political, regional, and social groups.

According to the write-up accompanying the poll, respondents reportedly expressed unfavourable views toward Wike regardless of affiliation or background.

Hated roundly

The unnamed pollster asserts that both Christians and Muslims registered strong disapproval of the minister.

Also, members of his own party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and supporters of major opposition parties including the APC, NNPP, Labour Party, ADC, and SDP.

The document further claims that public resentment toward Wike spans geographic divides.

It suggested that people “from the South” as well as “from the North” expressed dissatisfaction with his political conduct and leadership style.

The poll also alleges that personnel from security agencies hold similarly negative opinions of the minister.

The security agencies range from the military to police, civil defence, and intelligence services.

In addition, businessmen, political colleagues, and residents of his home community are said to have voiced disapproval.

The write-up, however, provides no methodological details, sample size, or verifiable data to support the claims.

While the document has gained traction online, analysts caution that the absence of transparency regarding who conducted the poll.

Questionable credibility, objectivity

Analysts also caution against how the conclusions were reached, raising questions about credibility, objectivity, and intent.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and current FCT minister, remains a prominent and influential figure in national politics.

As the discussion continues to generate public attention, the controversy underscores the increasingly polarized political climate in Nigeria.

Public sentiment toward political leaders is often shaped by partisan conflict, regional dynamics, and ongoing policy debates.

PDP suspends Wike

Meanwhile, in another development, PDP has expelled prominent party members, including Wike.

The party also suspended Samuel Anyanwu, the National Secretary, and Ayodele Fayose, former Governor of Ekiti State.

The decision was made on Saturday during the party’s national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Other expelled members include Umar Bature, Ajibade Kamarudeen, Mao Ohuabunwa, Uwachukwu, George Turner, Dan Orbih, Mohammed Abdulrahman, Austin Nwachukwu, and Abraham Amah.

The motion for their expulsion was initiated by Chief Olabode George, former PDP National Vice Chairman (South), and seconded by Samaila Buga, Chairman of the Bauchi PDP.

The decision was subsequently ratified through a voice vote led by Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.
