THIS DAWN — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Monday, January 26, on a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye.
According to the Presidency, the visit is part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and expand strategic cooperation between both countries.
The visit was disclosed in a State House press release signed by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
It is aimed at deepening the long-standing cordial relationship between Nigeria and Türkiye while exploring new areas of collaboration.
Focus on Security, Trade, Education, and Innovation
President Tinubu’s visit will focus on enhancing cooperation in key sectors including security, education, social development, innovation, and aviation.
Both countries are also expected to hold high-level political and diplomatic engagements.
The engagements will center on shared values in finance, communication, trade, and investment.
The visit builds on the growing diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Türkiye, following an official visit to Nigeria by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan from October 19 to 20, 2021.

Strategic Talks and Signing of MoUs with Türkiye
During the state visit, Nigeria and Türkiye will engage in strategic discussions involving senior government officials from both sides.
The agenda includes the signing of multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering areas such as:

Technical cooperation

Media and communications

Military cooperation and protocol
These agreements are expected to further institutionalize bilateral cooperation and unlock new opportunities for mutual development.
Nigeria–Türkiye Business Forum Planned
A Nigeria–Türkiye Business Forum will also be held during the visit.
The forum will bring together investors and business leaders from both countries to explore investment opportunities and strengthen private-sector partnerships.
