THIS DAWN — Ms. Lauretta Onochie, an All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart and a former aide to the late former president, Muhammadu Buhari, has declared with a note of finality that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not be re-elected during the 2027 presidential election.
Ms. Onochie made the remarks in a video obtained by our correspondent and published online.
Onochie said that Tinubu has no chances of returning elected in 2027.
A transcript of the video reads as follows:
“Tinubu has no pathway to return in 2027… We are not saying maybe or maybe not. No, he’s gone.
“Tinubu is gone… Because we are democratic, we understand what democracy is.
“He was elected, chosen by the people, including me standing here.
“Respectfully too, and regrettably too… we will walk gently.
“We are not going to be running around kitty-kitty or fighting or doing whatever they are doing.
“We are not going to go with them. We will all behave like Yerima. We will stand our ground respectfully.
“Without insulting anyone, we will stand our ground… And we just march on in 2027.
“I think 2027, he will be gone… He is gone already… He is gone.
“So, on behalf of our beloved party and on behalf of everyone that is holding the ground in this nation…
“You call it grassroots; we call it holding the ground. It’s a language we all need to know.
“President Buhari taught us, you hold the ground. Hold where you are…
“So, on behalf of all of us… and I believe all these ones, everyone here joins in this inauguration.
“We inaugurate this… Where is the magazine?”

Key Voices on Tinubu’s 2027 Non-reelection
Interestingly, Onochie is not the first person that has vowed the Tinubu will not return as president in 2027.
There are statements credited to notable Nigerian, who have explicitly vowed that Tinubu will not be re-elected in 2027.
Former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, declared that he was working with opposition leaders to unseat Tinubu in 2027.
Tambuwal called the push a “national consensus”, “it is not cast in stone that he may not lose in 2027… He can be defeated.”
The Arewa Consultative Forum’s Publicity Secretary, Prof. Tukur Baba, and the Northern Youth Council said Tinubu “does not deserve re-election in 2027.”
They cited dissatisfaction with his performance.
