THIS DAWN — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly refuted growing media reports suggesting that Vice President Kashim Shettima may be replaced as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This was contained in a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
The APC described the stories as “purely speculative, untrue and utterly baseless.”
The party warned media organizations against amplifying rumours from questionable sources.
It stressing that such reports are designed to sow discord and confusion in the polity.
Party’s Position
The APC emphasized that under Nigeria’s laws and electoral regulations, the ban on political activities remains in force.
At this stage, the party said it is focused on supporting President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in delivering the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Our Party remains focused on entrenching bold reforms that are steadily transforming the economy, building prosperity, and uplifting the living conditions of our people,” the statement read.
The party also cautioned ministers, senior government officials, and party leaders against stoking unnecessary speculation, whether deliberately or inadvertently.
Instead, it urged them to concentrate on their primary duties of service and governance, while bolstering the achievements of President Tinubu.

Background to Shettima Removal Rumours
Speculation about Shettima’s position intensified in recent weeks after names of potential replacements were circulated in the media.
