THIS DAWN — The Nigeria Police Force has strongly refuted a viral document circulating across social media platforms, which falsely claimed that officers attached to certain individuals had been directed to report back to base immediately.
The purported document, allegedly originating from the 50 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron in Abuja and signed by one “CSP Suleiman Abdullahi,” was categorically dismissed as fake.
The purported VIPs include FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, et al.

According to the Force, no officer by that name serves in the squadron, and the position of “Admin Officer” is not held by an officer of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) in any PMF unit.
Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, made the clarification in a statement dated November 29, 2025.
He described the document as a deliberate fabrication aimed at misleading the public and sowing confusion.
Spokesman confirms withdrawal of police officers from VIP duties
CSP Hundeyin emphasized that the implementation of the Presidential Directive on the withdrawal of police officers from VIP duties has indeed commenced.
However, the process, he said, is being executed in a structured, phased, and professional manner.
“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to reassure the public that this transition is carefully managed to prevent any security vacuum that could be exploited by criminal elements.
“Our priority remains the safety and security of all Nigerians,” the statement read.
The Force further cautioned citizens against sharing unverified documents.
It stressed that such actions could undermine public confidence and spread unnecessary panic.
Nigerians were urged to rely strictly on official communication channels for accurate information regarding police operations and directives.
Hundeyin reaffirmed the commitment of the police force to transparency and accountability.
He assured that adequate measures have been put in place to maintain law and order throughout the ongoing restructuring of VIP security arrangements.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its duty to protect lives and property at all times,” Hundeyin concluded.
Observers note that the clarification underscores the importance of vigilance in the digital age, where misinformation can spread rapidly.
The Police reiterated its resolve to counter false narratives and maintain public trust as it continues to implement reforms in line with national directives.
