THIS DAWN — The woman who accused Nigerian music star Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy of P-Square, of rape has been arrested and formally charged to court, marking a dramatic turn in a case that has gripped public attention.
Identified on social media as @chubbiedivah, the accuser was apprehended on November 6, 2025, after fleeing her husband’s home and deactivating her X account in the wake of the allegation.
She was placed in detention and subsequently charged to court on November 10, 2025.
Rudeboy, on his part, had earlier dismissed the allegation as false and vowed to pursue justice.
He reportedly chose not to publicize her arrest to avoid generating public sympathy that could influence the legal process or enable her release without facing consequences.

Within 24 hours of her detention, the accused complained of breathing difficulties and swollen legs, requesting medical attention.
The court granted temporary release for hospital treatment after her lawyer assured that she would return by the scheduled date.
On the run…
However, she failed to appear on November 10, with her counsel citing serious health complications.
The matter was adjourned to November 17, but she again failed to show up, claiming continued medical supervision.
The court has now rescheduled the hearing for December 1, 2025, with a strict order that either she or her lawyer must be present without fail.
Legal observers note that the adjournments have raised concerns about possible attempts to evade justice.
The court has, however, emphasized that the case will proceed to its conclusion.
The incident has sparked widespread debate on social media, with many Nigerians warning against the dangers of false accusations.
Supporters of Rudeboy argue that the arrest serves as a deterrent to others who might attempt similar actions.
“She will never falsely accuse someone of rape again,” one commentator wrote, reflecting the sentiment that false claims undermine genuine victims and tarnish reputations.
Rudeboy himself has remained largely silent since the arrest, focusing on ensuring the matter is resolved within the confines of the law.
His restraint has been praised by fans who see it as a commitment to due process rather than trial by public opinion.
As the December 1 court date approaches, the case is expected to set a precedent in addressing false allegations within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
It is also expected to reinforce the principle that rape is a serious crime and that false claims will not go unpunished.
