THIS DAWN — Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has donated ₦10 million to support the development of Francis Cardinal Arinze Secondary School in Nkwele Ezunaka, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The donation is aimed at strengthening educational infrastructure and improving learning conditions for students in the school.

Obi emphasized that investment in education remains the most sustainable way to secure Nigeria’s future.

He noted that schools must be adequately equipped to nurture the next generation of leaders.

Obi stated during the presentation: “Education is the most valuable investment we can make for our children.

“Supporting institutions like Francis Cardinal Arinze Secondary School ensures that our young people have the tools they need to succeed.”

School and Community Impact

Francis Cardinal Arinze Secondary School was named after the respected Catholic Cardinal from Anambra.

It serves hundreds of students from Nkwele Ezunaka and surrounding communities.

The ₦10 million donation is expected to:

  • Enhance classroom facilities and teaching resources.
  • Support ongoing infrastructure projects within the school.
  • Provide relief for operational costs and student welfare programs.

Community leaders and school administrators expressed gratitude, describing Obi’s gesture as timely and impactful.

They noted that the funds would help address pressing needs and inspire confidence among parents and students.

Obi’s Track Record in Education

Peter Obi has consistently championed education as a cornerstone of national development.

During his tenure as governor of Anambra State, he prioritized funding for schools, improved teacher training, and facilitated partnerships with mission schools.

His philanthropic efforts since leaving office have continued to focus on education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation.

Observers highlight that Obi’s latest donation reinforces his long-standing commitment to human capital development.

It also showcases his belief that Nigeria’s progress depends on empowering its youth through quality education.

Broader Significance

The donation comes at a time when many schools across Nigeria face challenges such as inadequate funding, poor infrastructure, and overcrowded classrooms.

Obi’s intervention underscores the role of private citizens and leaders in complementing government efforts to strengthen the education sector.

Education advocates argue that such contributions not only provide immediate relief.

They say it also set an example for others to support schools in their communities.

Peter Obi’s ₦10 million donation to Francis Cardinal Arinze Secondary School in Nkwele Ezunaka is more than a philanthropic gesture.

It is a reaffirmation of his vision for a Nigeria where education is prioritized as the foundation for national growth.

For the students and community of Oyi LGA, the support represents hope, opportunity, and a renewed commitment to building a brighter future.
