THIS DAWN — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared its 2025 National Convention in Ibadan a landmark success, describing the event as a powerful demonstration of unity, excellence, and renewed readiness to lead Nigeria toward national recovery.
Held on November 15–16 at the iconic Lekan Salami Sports Complex in Adamasingba, Ibadan, the convention brought together thousands of party faithful in what the PDP termed “a masterclass in leadership.”
According to the party’s official statement, the #Ibadan2025 Convention showcased exceptional organizational capacity and reaffirmed the PDP’s position as Nigeria’s most structured and institutionally grounded political movement.
More than 3,000 accredited delegates, including governors, senators, members of the National Assembly, former presidential candidates, national officers, and stakeholders from the 36 states and the FCT, participated in the two-day event.
The convention followed recent legal challenges, which the party overcame with what it described as “grace, strategic clarity, and institutional cohesion.”
By successfully surmounting those hurdles, the PDP said it demonstrated its resilience and internal strength—qualities it insists position the party as the leading alternative for Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At the heart of the convention was the election of a new National Working Committee (NWC), led by seasoned statesman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, whom delegates overwhelmingly endorsed.
The PDP said the transparent and technology-driven electoral process reflected its dedication to internal democracy and fairness.
Vision for Nigeria’s future
Delegates lauded the seamless accreditation process, which featured improved digital verification systems that ensured efficiency and eliminated logistical bottlenecks.
Party leaders also highlighted the atmosphere of unity and purpose that permeated the venue, describing the convergence of national figures as proof of the PDP’s enduring appeal and national spread.
Throughout the convention, speakers emphasized the PDP’s vision for Nigeria’s future—one anchored in economic revival, national security reform, youth empowerment, and rebuilding public trust in government.
The party signaled that it is prepared to present a formidable challenge in 2027, insisting that Nigerians are yearning for competent leadership that prioritizes welfare, stability, and national cohesion.
In its post-convention remarks, the PDP hailed the success of #Ibadan2025 as evidence of its unmatched capacity to organize, mobilize, and inspire.
“The PDP remains the pathway to Nigeria’s renewal,” the party said, thanking delegates and supporters nationwide for their unwavering commitment.
With the convention concluded, the party says it now enters a new era of revitalization—fully equipped, united, and ready for the political battles ahead.
