THIS DAWN — The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the appointment of Hon. Francis Orogu as the Acting National Vice Chairman (North Central) following the expulsion of Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed by the 2025 National Elective Convention.
The decision was announced in a statement signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong.
Ememobong noted that the appointment formed part of the resolutions adopted during the NWC’s 610th meeting held on Tuesday.
The action was taken pursuant to Article 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (as amended).
Before this elevation, Orogu served as Secretary of the North Central Zonal Executive Committee.
He will function in an acting capacity pending the election of a substantive National Vice Chairman for the zone.
The Party urged members, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, the media, and the general public to take note of the development.
The NWC further appealed to party members in the North Central region to remain united and cooperate with Hon. Orogu and other zonal leaders to ensure continued progress and stability within the party.

State Chairmen Forum Backs Turaki, Hails NWC Leadership
Meanwhile, the Forum of State Chairmen of the PDP has congratulated Alhaji Kabiru Turaki on his election as the new National Chairman of the party.
This was contained in a statement dated November 23 and jointly signed by the Forum Chairman and Edo PDP Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, along with 25 other state chairmen.
The Forum described Turaki’s emergence as a “resounding affirmation of his integrity, capacity, and unwavering dedication to party and nation.”
The Forum expressed confidence that Turaki’s leadership of the 20-member NWC would strengthen the PDP’s mission of “rescuing and rebuilding Nigeria.”
It also commended the pivotal leadership of PDP governors across the country.
Particular praise was extended to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for hosting a seamless and well-organized National Elective Convention in Ibadan from November 15–16, 2025.
The Forum also applauded the contributions of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Adamawa State Governor Amadu Fintiri, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Reaffirming its commitment to the party’s ideals, the Forum declared its resolve to remain steadfast “in the face of calculated pressures, orchestrated hostilities, and institutional oppressions.”
The emergence of the new NWC marks a renewed phase of leadership for the PDP.
It also positions itself to strengthen internal cohesion and national engagement ahead of future political contests.
