TDThe African Democratic Congress (ADC), Anambra State Chapter, has officially welcomed former Governor Peter Obi into its fold.
In an announcement jointly signed by Comrade Patrick Obianyo, the State Chairman, and Pastor Lawrence Okeke, the Secretary, the party described his entry as a turning point in the state’s political history.
Obi formally registered with the party on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at his ward in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area, where he collected his membership card.
“Rescue Mission Has Begun” – ADC Chairman
Speaking in Awka, the State Chairman of ADC, Obianyo, hailed Obi’s decision as a signal of renewed hope for good governance.
“The arrival of Peter Obi is a signal that the rescue mission for our nation has begun.
“We invite every progress-minded individual to join the ADC family immediately,” the statement declared.
It emphasized that Obi’s move strengthens the ADC’s position as a credible alternative to the ruling party and a vehicle for transformative leadership.

Registration Drive Underway
To accommodate the surge of interest, the party has opened registration portals at ward offices and online.
The current exercise, however, is expected to close in a few days. Citizens are urged to secure their membership before the deadline.
The ADC leadership reiterated its commitment to accountability, transparency, and delivering the dividends of democracy.
The party described itself as the only viable opposition to the APC, urging Anambra residents to “stand on the right side of history.”
