The Labour Party (LP) has welcomed the official recognition of its Interim National Leadership by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headed by Senator Nenadi Esther Usman.
LP described the move as a significant step toward restoring unity and focus within the party.
The newly acknowledged leadership was affirmed following a Federal High Court ruling.
The court directed INEC to recognize Usman’s team as the sole legitimate authority within the party, excluding all rival claims.
In a statement issued by Ken Eluma Asogwa, Senior Special Adviser on Media to the Interim National Chairman, the party expressed “relief and joy” over the decision.
It praised INEC for its adherence to the rule of law and constitutional principles.

End of Internal Turmoil, Reaffirming Opposition Role
The Labour Party noted that the recognition marks the end of a year-long period of internal distractions and leadership disputes.
LP called on members nationwide to rally behind the interim leadership as it works to reposition the party ahead of the next election cycle.
As a major opposition force, the Labour Party reiterated its commitment to offering Nigerians a credible, people-oriented alternative.
The statement emphasized that achieving this goal requires unity, dedication, and collective sacrifice from all stakeholders.

Appreciation for Support and the Way Forward
The party extended gratitude to its supporters across the country for their resilience and unwavering belief in the movement.
It also commended the judiciary for upholding justice and the media for its principled pursuit of truth and fairness.
With limited time before the next elections, the Labour Party pledged to intensify efforts to rebuild and strengthen its structures nationwide.
LP assured Nigerians of its resolve to restore the party to winning ways and fulfill its objectives in the shortest possible time.
