The Labour Party (LP) has issued a press release warning Nigerians to disregard information circulating from a fake X (formerly Twitter) account impersonating the party.
This was disclosed in a press release signed by Ken Eluma Asogwa, Senior Special Adviser (Media) to the Interim National Chairman.
Fraudulent Account
The fraudulent account, operating under the name “Nigeria Labour Party (LP)” with the handle @NewsLp26689, was reportedly created in January 2026.
It claimed to be operating under Senator Nenadi Usman’s leadership and currently enjoys 253 Followers.
It was created shortly after the Federal High Court affirmed Senator Usman as the Interim National Chairman of the party in its judgment.
The account has been falsely purporting to disseminate information on behalf of the Labour Party, prompting the leadership to issue a public disclaimer.

Official Accounts
For clarity, the Labour Party stated that its only known social media accounts are:
- Facebook: Labour Party-Nig (approx. 12,000 followers)
- X (Twitter): LabourPartyNG (approx. 839,000 followers)
Both accounts are currently inactive.
Following the court judgment, the party has formally written to the erstwhile leadership to hand over control of these official accounts.
Once retrieval or restoration is complete, the public will be duly informed.
Interim Communication Channels
Until the official accounts are restored, the Labour Party emphasized that all communications will be issued strictly through press statements from the Office of the Interim National Chairman.
The party urged Nigerians to disregard any information emanating from the parody account @NewsLp26689.
It stressed that it is unauthorized and misleading.
Media Appreciation
Asogwa expressed appreciation to members of the media for their vigilance, professionalism, and unbiased reportage on matters concerning the party.
The Labour Party made it clear that it currently does not operate any active social media accounts.
It advised Nigerians to rely only on official press statements until the party regains control of its verified platforms.
