THIS DAWN — The Kaduna State Police Command announced that its tactical team successfully foiled an attempted bandits’ invasion of Idissu village, Idissu Ward, Bayan Kogi axis of Giwa Local Government Area.

The operation, carried out on Monday, saw officers engage the armed assailants in a fierce gun battle.

According to the Command, two notorious bandits were neutralised during the exchange, while others fled with gunshot wounds.

The police also recovered dangerous firearms and ammunition from the scene, preventing what could have been a deadly attack on the community.

Police Statement

The Command emphasized that the swift response was part of ongoing efforts to secure rural communities vulnerable to banditry.

Officers on patrol intercepted the attackers before they could infiltrate the village.

Recovered items included:

  • Two AK-47 rifles
  • A cache of live ammunition
  • Other dangerous weapons used by the bandits

The police assured residents that intensified patrols and intelligence-led operations will continue across Giwa and other flashpoints in Kaduna State.

Residents of Idissu village expressed relief at the successful operation, noting that bandit attacks have been a recurring threat in the area.

The neutralisation of two notorious bandits is seen as a significant victory for local security, though villagers remain cautious given the persistence of armed groups in the region.

Banditry Impact on Kaduna

Kaduna State has been one of the hardest-hit regions in Nigeria’s battle against banditry, with Giwa Local Government Area frequently targeted.

The police command’s proactive measures, including rapid response patrols and intelligence gathering, are part of a wider strategy to restore peace and protect farming communities.

Security analysts note that while such victories are encouraging, sustained collaboration between security agencies, local vigilantes, and community leaders is essential to permanently curb bandit activities.

The report about Kaduna State Police Command’s successful operation in Idissu village underscores the importance of quick tactical response and intelligence-led policing in combating banditry.

Neutralising two armed assailants and recovering firearms not only prevented loss of life but also sent a strong signal to criminal groups operating in the region.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements.

They assured that the fight against banditry will continue until peace is fully restored in Kaduna State.
